It's a hornworm - the larva a sphinx moth (Sphingidae). Hard to know which specific one. They burrow into the ground to pupate. It's a young one as the horn on the end is fuzzy. As the larva molts each time, the horn gets more rigid looking and loses the fuzziness. These are harmless.
